The Mirage Drive is Hobie's answer to the biggest problem with kayaks - having to paddle to get anywhere! Now use your strongest muscles in your legs, rather than those weak ones in your shoulders, to move along gracefully and quickly through any body of water. There is a variety of different fin and drive models, but they all wok similarly to what is shown in this video:

The ungainly paddle is replaced by the sheer efficiency of the MirageDrive pedal. With the largest human muscle group now in play, kayaking becomes easier and more efficient than ever.

The MirageDrive pedals can be quickly adjusted for leg length to make one boat comfortable for taller or shorter kayakers. All models also offer multiple seat positions to increase the comfort-range further. 

The drive is available with different fins and masts to best meet your kayaking needs. Most buyers and renters upgrade to the 'turbo' fin version, as the additional length and design features of the turbo fins allows you to go further and faster in the water without much increase in energy exertion. Here's how the fins compare - from left, the upgraded turbo version; 2015+ standard ST; the original fins provided with 2014 and earlier models; and the 180 Reverse style that became the standard in 2017.
