Here’s some information you may find useful before your trip (sourced from Wikipedia and other research):

Illahee State Park is an 82-acre Washington state park located in the hamlet of Illahee, just north of East Bremerton, on Port Orchard Bay, part of Puget Sound. The word "Illahee" means earth or country in the Native language Chinuk Wawa. The park was established when Kitsap County donated 13 acres to the state in 1934. The park's old-growth stand is home to one of the nation's oldest Pacific yews, which has been standing for approximately 400 years. Park activities include picnicking, camping, hiking, boating, and shellfish harvesting.

If you are a first-time camper, an overnight trip into Illahee State Park is a great way to get started – it’s probably close by, and the staff is used to advising families out on their first trip. We make it easy to rent gear as well if you are aren’t sure what to take – check out our camping gear packages for easy shopping. Just add food and water!

A playground, softball field, horseshoe pits, and volleyball courts await, ensuring fun for everyone in the family. A memorial featuring two large naval guns honors the park’s founder, Earl Henry Harkins, and the young men of Bremerton who lost their lives in World War I. Other activities include geocaching and metal detecting. Pitch a tent or park an RV for a few days for a relaxing break at this Puget Sound beach park.
