The sleeping bag liner has no added insulation so it packs down to a small volume - easy to carry in a suitcase or backpack. These can be used as an add-on to a regular sleeping bag to add several degrees of warmth, or to have a more comfortable material next to your skin - a bag in a bag. Or, they are ideal for summer or indoor conditions - camping nighttime temps 60' or above, or use in a hostel, as examples.
The fabric of the liner is thin, but warm, with a texture weight similar to a sheet. The fabric is typically a synthetic blend, not cotton. There is no "hood" like a traditional sleeping bag might haveCan be washed and dried like a sheet.
